The concept of the PlantBack Project is to generate interest for community development projects from committed citizens who originate from or have interest in supporting poor communities. 

The people who originate from these poor areas are believed to have the best understanding of the people’s needs, culture and attitudes. 

They would also be easily accepted with pride as the community would already know that they belong there. Project ownership is critical for sustainability and this approach would encourage that aspect.

To stimulate a commitment from people to go back to their poor rural or peri-urban communities to give something back so that poverty can be alleviated.
